Attendance is taken on a daily basis at the school. If your young adult is going to be absent from school, we ask that you please contact their building using the numbers below and text their case manager.

When you call, please provide us with the following information:
- Date and time of call
- Spell student’s first and last names
- Reason for absence and date of expected return
- Relationship to student and call-back number
You will also need to contact your student's employer if they participate in a competitive work placement.
If you need to schedule a partial or full-day absence for your student, please call the Transition Center prior to the absence. We also ask that you contact First Student (630-964-2500) at least five days in advance for a scheduled absence or as soon as possible for an unexpected one.
Visitor Sign-In and Sign-Out Procedure
All visitors, including parents/guardians, will be expected to sign in and sign out when arriving at the school. This includes visits for IEP meetings and other check-in appointments. Please be prepared to show your state ID or driver's license for identification purposes upon arrival.
Authorized Pickup/ Early Pickup
In the event that someone other than the parents/guardians and/or people listed on the emergency contact form will be picking up your young adult, the school will require a signed written note, an email or phone call from the parent/guardian authorizing that the young adult be released to this individual. Please make sure you provide us with the following information:
- The name of your young adult.
- The name of the individual who will be picking up your young adult.
- The date/time of the approved dismissal.
- Your signature, when applicable.
**Please note that this designated individual, as well as your designated emergency contacts, will be required to show picture identification.
Notification of School Closing
If we need to close school for any reason (e.g., inclement weather), we will call, email and text you, post information on our website and record a message on our voice system. This news will also be shared with the local media.
